The Meaning of LIfe

The streets were soggy as I drove home tonight in a cab wreaking of balls and ass. It's the 4th of July and the fireworks are about to blast off over the Schuylkill River. I hate holidays. People are always so happy until it ends and they realize how miserable their lives are. Why can't everyday be a holiday? Nah, misery likes company. As the cab slowed to a siren red light I noticed a big ass cockroach crossing 8th street. I despise those little imps. If there is one creature I wish was extinct it would be cockroaches. I don't understand their purpose on this planet. I just don't get it. It's a shame that someday they will outlive our race. That thought actually scares me. I could see it now big ass cockroaches fucking everywhere just multiplying all over this bitch. So back to the cockroach crossing the street. At the very moment I realized the meaning of life: Take risk. Any risk. Just do it.

RIP Laquina Hennis

As some of you may know I grew up in the United States Virgin Islands. Recently a very heinous murder occurred down there involving a 12 year old girl name Laquina Hennis. Knots grew in my stomach when heard of Laquina's disappearance. He body was discovered five days later in a run down house that authorities later revealed to be the home of her murderer Daniel Castillo also known as, "Chi Chi". Mr. Castillo has a history of rape and abuse. I would like to know why he was even on the streets in the first place. He should have been in jail. I really try to keep abreast of what is going on in the territory because eventually I would like to go back and raise a family there. However days like this I feel like there is no hope left for the VI. The crime rate has been sky rocketing more than ever and more and more murders are going unsolved.
My heart goes out to Laquina's mother. I believe a mother should not have to bury her own child. My mother went through the same ordeal and I believe she has never been the same. So today I just want to tell everyone I know that I love them. Parents, don't neglect your children. In this day and age there is no such thing as over protection. Know who your child friends are and their schedule. Tell your children you love them. Keep Laquina and her family in your prayers.

March Madness

Today it snowed like a motherfucker here in Philadelphia. On Tuesday we had the MOST beautiful day I have ever seen and then today we got like almost a damn foot of snow! Well not really but it was a shit load. The airport was closed down...they even closed off I-95! We are my tax dollars disappearing too. No streets were plowed in Center City...I hear my tax dollars being incinerated at this very moment, *sigh*. My trek to work was like Kim Hong Bin trying to climb everest, very intense. This city needs to get its act together quick fast and in a hurry. An associate told me today that he sat in an airplane for 6 HOURS while the plane was still on the RUNWAY!! I would have freaked OUT!! First of all I hate being on a plane much less one that is on the ground waiting for hours. He could have flown to the Caribbean and back in the time span. But nothing beats Jet Blue. They reportedly were stuck on the runway for a whopping 12 hours when their plane got frozen to the tarmac! Lord have mercy I would have killed somebody. I hope the weather gets better tomorrow cause this March madness ain't no joke.

Speaking of March Madness...I can't get into the NCAA basketball stuff at all. I just don't get it. What is up with all the pools and such. Somethings are meant to be a mystery for me this is one of them.

Tunes of the Month

Tunes!! So lately I have been dabbling in different types of music. I recently started listening to a beautiful Afro-Portuguese songstress named Sara Tavares. I fell asleep last night listening to her melancholy lullabies that seems to sit on your soul like a good hymn on a Sunday morning.
A couple weeks ago I was prowling Afrobella.com one of my favorite blogs and I discovered two more "bellas" to add to my repertoire of soulful songstresses: Alice Smith and Amy Winehouse. Many of you may have seen Amy Winehouse's video on VH1 by now if you have she is pure hottness. Something about British singers that I just can't place my fingers on...oh i got it they are masters are making the old seem new again. This is exactly what Amy Winehouse does. She is blend of old souls. I can really relate to her songs. She is really amazing. Alice Smith on the other hand has a style all her own. Her voice at times sounds like a strange instrument. She has a unique style and I wish her Amy and Sara the best. Tunes!!

The 300

I really enjoyed The 300. I especially enjoyed the men. My God were they hot! That casting director sure has a good eye. Ladies if blood and guts ain't your thing, at least see it for the goods. For my male readers there was a lot of action, sex, swords, blood and death, blah blah: Think Sin City meets Troy with twist of Gladiator. I just want to go on record for saying that The 300 was just a movie and I do not think that it is historically correct or whatever. I recently read that the Iranians are "outraged" because of the film. Yes America we have done it again. You know what I don't want to get into politics. Lately I've noticed that politics can find its way into anything you say. So none of that in this post.
